NHLA sues US Department of Labor
(archived from September 19th, 2011)
The National Hispanic Landscape Alliance joined the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and others in standing against the ill-conceived policies of the US Department of Labor (DOL) as a named plaintiff in a lawsuit filed in Florida. We prefer constructive engagement and will continue to seek dialogue over confrontation in furthering with our members their best interests. However, other efforts had failed to stop the DOL from requiring firms that hire H-2B labor to raise the compensation of those workers, and others they employ in similar roles by 50% or more. Had the measure gone into effect it would have caused companies to drastically scale back their operations or close.
