There are more than 50 million acres of turfgrass in the United States with an estimated annual value of $40 billon. The annual value of turfgrass is greater than the value of America's corn and soybean crops combined. The National Turfgrass Research Initiative is working to get the USDA Agricultural Research Service to make this a focus area of new research.
